Corgi 319 Lotus Elan Coupe with detachable chassis. Very, very near mint/boxed. Very rare, final version with thin axles and plastic 'chromed' wheels. First we have ever handled! From The Somerset Collection.
Notes
A rare and sensational find, this is one of a small batch of models made toward the end of the production run (1967-69).
This model has a shining, orange-yellow finish, dark green roof and body stripe. Opening bonnet reveals a detailed engine.
Especially noteworthy are the thin axles, chromed plastic wheels and thin plastic tyres.
No racing numbers with this example. Included is the model specific Instruction Leaflet which is both a Corgi Club Membership Form and an Instruction Leaflet for the detachable chassis.
Obviously unplayed with, this model has a minuscule mark or two, visible to the gimlet-eyed.
The picture box is colourful and complete. Some minor age/handling wear (crease at the tuck-in part of one large end flap and a couple of light creases besides). Late issue, so ‘With detachable chassis’ is printed on the box. Period shopkeeper’s price is pencilled at an end flap.
