D501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8-Wheel Wagon. Scarce brown issue. 1st type. Excellent plus/boxed. From a long-standing U.S. Dinky collector.
Notes
This classic early Foden truck has such a fine rich brown finish, with a silver flash and black chassis, black original radial tyres. Correct that this early issue has no tow hook.
Base is complete and bright with spare wheel affixed:
Issued between 1947-48.
Upon close scrutiny, you will see a few marks at raised/exposed edges. Light box rub on the roof has a very light covering of brown paint in one small area and a smaller dab besides. Nice lustre throughout and bright metal parts.
The blue box with a bright paper label presents well. No seam tears. No graffiti. Couple of small edge ‘nibbles’ to the paper label at one lid end. Minor wear only in the form of light creasing, occasional rub, light scuff etc.
These early Foden models are becoming increasingly hard to find.
