D23S
Trade Box (full) Dinky 23S/222 Streamlined Racing Cars. Very near mint/boxed (with dividers). An unsold old shop stock item from The London Collection.
Notes
From an investment collection of high quality models.
A quite breathtaking array of Streamlined Racing Cars with such a glistening silver finish in very, very near mint -mint condition!
This old shop stock item comprises a sturdy deep yellow card lift-off lid box. This is a dual-numbered box marking the transition from the old numbering 23S for these racing cars to 222 in 1954. All four racing cars are obviously originals for this trade box (so not a later ‘made up’ collection). All identical wiht green flashes and cream wheel are fawn. All have small baseplate print with a rail detail.
Nice to see that this trade box still contains all three yellow card dividers. The box is close to perfect with strong colours and no splits. Shiny staples. Only the most minor age wear, and a small strip of surface removal one one lid end due to the removal of old sellotape. The remains of old sellotape at another end. Original shopkeeper’s pencilled price of “2/5 each” on the lid and at one end. Green Dinky colour spot.
A delightful piece of Dinky history and such an impressive array of these fine early Racing Cars!
