D514/917
Dinky 917 Guy Van "SPRATTS". Near mint/boxed. Dual-numbered box. From The Heart of England Collection.
Notes
Issued between 1954-56, this is one from the range of sought-after Guy vans with advertising made by Dinky during their heyday. In red and cream finish with the distinctive “SPRATTS” lettering on both sides in the shape of a dog.
Detailed transfers are complete on both sides, one little nick to the red line detail above the lettering on one side, a couple of little dots to the lower red stripe at one edge.
The cab has one little dot on the roof and a couple of tiny scratches. Close scrutiny reveals a couple of little (factory) paint runs head-on. The cream back has a few little marks and a little rough casting in places. Stray dot of light blue paint on the roof edge. The opening rear doors have scarcely any marks at all. Bright baseplate.
The pictorial box is complete and vividly-coloured with no splits. Only the most minor age wear including slight rusting to the staples. Colours are vibrant and unrubbed and that includes the deep box box base. Period price of 7/3 on the box lid.
