CGS16
Corgi Gift Set 16 Ecurie Ecosse Set. Near mint-very near mint/boxed. First issue in deep metallic blue with orange lettering. No inner packing. From a private collection in Devon, England.
Notes
A most popular and sought-after Gift Set from Corgi, this particular version is the first issue from 1961.
It comprises:
1) Ecurie Ecosse Transporter has a vivid metallic blue finish, shaped spun wheels, lemon interior and a light grey base. Sliding side doors, window glazing and a drop down ramp at the rear. Orange lettering at the sides. Able to ‘transport’ the three racing cars included with this set.
Condition: near mint with a few small marks only, mostly where metal meets metal. Complete with the factory label on the roof (often removed). Obviously rarely handled.
2) 151a Lotus XI has a bright mid-blue finish, red seats, racing number 3. Driver.
Condition: Near mint with driver and intact screen. Few little marks and some light wear/grubbiness to the racing number stripe. Box is crisp, clean and bright , although strictly for the 151 (not 151A) issue. Small area of surface removal at an end flap and a little end flap tear.
3) 150S Vanwall in vermillion with racing number 25, driver, flat spun wheels with suspension.
Condition: Very near mint, with just a few negligible marks only. Box is really crisp, clean and bright. Minor handling wear only.
4) 152S B.R.M. model finished in green, racing number 1.
Condition: Very near mint. Few pin prick marks only. Very nice indeed! Comes in the 152 box (should be strictly a 152 S box). Box is very crisp, clean and fresh. Tiny tear at an end flap.
Lift-off Lid Box is most attractive with bright clean colours and only the most minor storage wear. No inner packing now.
