C256
Corgi 256 Volkswagen 1200 in East African Safari Trim with Rhino. Near mint plus/boxed. From a private collection in Somerset, England.
Notes
A shining bright example of this very popular Corgi model. This VW looks very smart indeed with a vivid scarlet finish, bright chrome, jewelled lights. Complete with the detailed Safari label on the bonnet (tiniest of edge nicks and very minor wear), a complete “NAIROBI” label in the rear window, and intact racing number 18 on both doors.
The car has “True Scale Steering” when the wheel on the roof is turned. Opening bonnet and boot reveals a detailed engine and ‘luggage’.
Upon close inspection, one will see a small area of thin paint (factory) at the boot edge and a few negligible marks besides.
It comes complete with the original rhino which slots into the inner card stand for display.
The colourful card plinth is very bright and fresh with a detailed backdrop. Crisp.
None of the usual wear and tear to the wheel slots – indeed this example still has the four little push-out card wheel slot pieces in place! Lovely, virtually as-new condition.
The illustrated card box is complete with all end flaps, and feels crisp. Minor age grubbiness now but no tears or graffiti. Very small area of surface removal at one side. Small rust stain at an end flap.
