D514
Dinky 514 Guy Van "SLUMBERLAND". Near mint/boxed. RARE VERSION WITH SUPERTOY WHEELS. From a private collection.
Notes
Issued between 1950-52, this desirable Dinky advertising van has a vivid red paint finish with a complete ‘Slumberland’ transfer above the cab roof (small scratch), and complete delicate transfers at both sides. More often found with ridged wheels, this example has grooved Supertoy wheels, a scarce variation. Lovely vibrant lustre.
What a display piece!
Rear doors open and close nicely, too.
There are a few of the usual little marks at the rear door handles and a mere dot at a wheel arch. Closest scrutiny reveals an extra flick of well-matched red paint to a small area where the original paint finish has slightly bubbled and another flick of paint nearby. There is a small touch-in to a front wheel arch head-on. Little dab of paint toward the rear of the box van. Little rub on the roof of the box van. Small, barely visible thin scratch. The base is very bright, shiny and fresh, as are all metal parts on this van. One of the original tyres has a flattened spot now.
The early powder blue box with a paper label is really very nice indeed, with minimal age wear and a complete, clean and vivid paper label. No splits or tears. No graffiti.
The first Slumberland Guy Van with Supertoy wheels that we have handled.
