What an exquisite pre-war model this is! First issued during 1937, this is the actual example pictured in The Great Book of Dinky. These earliest of Dinky toys have such wonderfully rich and vibrant colours – only apparent when they have survived this well.
This extremely attractive early sports car complete with the detailed driver is a must for your collection. This Salmson model is outstanding with paint pigments that are so extraordinarily rich. Note the early very bright tinplate screen (with much of the plating remaining!), the complete and bright headlight and radiator assembly, the intact original tyres including the spare, and the smooth glossy black wheels. Few have survived so well.
With a few marks and the small piece behind the driver missing now (due to unstable diecast alloys in these earliest of models). None of the usual crazing or warping to this model which gives the impression of being robust and stable now.
A piece of Dinky history to treasure…
