Notes
Such an attractive item from Dinky – made between 1960-64. This particular model is dated 1960 (Dinky stamp on the inside of the box lid). The model has a shining, original lemon and orange paint finish. Bright baseplate and crisp and bright ‘Dinky Toys’ and ‘Meccano’ lettering on both sides and above the cab. Tiny miss to the red finish on the ‘O’ of toys on one side. This is a fine example indeed that looks as if it has spent much of the past 47 years or so in the box. Certainly never played with, so none of the usual chips at exposed edges etc. What a delight!
The mechanism works well when the handle is turned, moving the sliding interior platforms so that goods may be loaded and unloaded more easily.
Easily overlooked, this model has a little corrosion to the winding hadle cuff but a bright baseplate and other metal parts are bright too. Note that there is a little casting roughness at one edge of the van back where the paint is uneven.
Complete with three removable plastic pallets, packing piece, Dinky Inspection Tag and Instruction Leaflet.
The striped SUPERTOYS outer box looks very clean and fresh with barely any wear at all. What a gem! Very nearly as fresh as the day it was lifted off the Dinky shelf in the toy shop in 1960!
Just a little rustiness at the staples.
Nice to see that the lid is unpunctured too – since quite often the winding handle can cause damage to the box.
An eye-catching Dinky essential to add to your collection!
