Corgi Toys 267 Batmobile
Batmobile by Corgi Toys, No. 267. Scarce 1st issue - Matt black version. Near mint plus/boxed, with card packing piece. With Secret Instruction Packet. From The 25 Year Collection in California. Starting bid £500. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
This early example of the early issue Corgi Batmobile is in close to mint condition. Unmistakably silky matt paint finish (few of these have survived, most were gloss finish).
Suspension on front wheels. Bright mid-blue screens and both seated figures of Batman and Robin. Shiny chrome to launching tubes (a little loss to the chrome finish on the top rims) and cockpit (complete), vivid Bat hubs and Bat logos on both sides. Intact aerial. Pulsating flame, chain cutter and rocket launchers work well.
Hard to find a mark to the paint finish, although closest scrutiny with magnification finds the occasional little dab of extra paint applied.
Card inner is bright and complete with vivid artwork on crisp card. Couple of small tears to a wheel slot. Scuff and light wear.
Reverse:
The Secret Instruction Packet has been opened and inside there is the full complement of missiles (loose now). Badge & Operating Instructions, too.
The colourfully illustrated outer box impresses with bright colours on fresh card. Very small area of surface loss on an end flap – small circular period label mostly obscures this. With card packing piece.
Such a scarce Corgi iconic item to add to your collection.
