Corgi Gift Set 48 Corgi Car Transporter (Ford) with 6 Cars

Issued by Corgi during 1967, this is a most sought-after, early issue Gift Set, complete with the ‘autograph’ Mini and most unusually the Monte Carlo Rover!
This is an impressive selection of Corgi models:

In detail, this set comprises:

1) Corgi 1138 Ford Articulated Car Transporter in original scarlet red and blue with a very pale green-blue upper ramp, four intact red plastic chocks, cast wheels. The distinctive ‘Corgi Cars’ sign is gleaming bright on both sides, both paper labels are complete and clean at the rear, both swivelling wing mirrors still have the little ‘mirror’ pieces, gold horns are shining and straight on the roof. Very near mint. Note that the grey plastic exhaust has a small repaired break.

2) Corgi 322 Monte Carlo Rover 2000 in lustrous maroon. Very close to mint paint finish. Suspension is fine on shaped spun wheels. Bright red interior. Trans-o-lite headlamps. Fine original tyres. Complete Monte Carlo labels front and rear. 136 racing numbers on both doors are complete on one side, few little edge nibbles on the other.

3) Corgi 251 Hillman Imp in deep metallic blue finish, yellow interior, shaped spun wheels. So often these models are found with broken suspension at the rear, since it is by depressing the rear wheels that one is able to fold down the rear seats. Please note that the suspension is notably present on all four wheels. Shiny spun wheels and as-new original tyres.
Virtually mint, with luggage.

4) Corgi 440 Ford Cortina Estate. In very near mint condition. Metallic grey version with brown and cream side panels, shaped spun wheels with suspension. Bright chrome and jewelled headlights. Virtually mint.

5) Corgi 249 Morris Mini Cooper De-Luxe in black with a red roof and complete wickerwork side and rear panels. Suspension on shaped spun wheels, jewelled headlights. Very near mint.

6) Corgi 226 Morris Mini Minor in sky blue with suspension on shaped spun wheels. Very near mint.

7) Corgi 321 Mini Cooper ‘S’ Monte Carlo 1966 in red and white with suspension on shaped spun wheels. Roof signatures of Timo Makkinen and Paul Easter, complete racing number ‘2’ on one door, couple of small edge nicks on the other. Jewelled lights. Somewhat dulled sump guard. Complete bonnet transfer. Complete rear transfer. Very near mint.

The polystyrene inner is so fresh, clean, complete and bright. Vivid ‘Corgi Toys’ label.

This set comes with the full original packet of traffic cones (still sealed packet).

The colourfully illustrated outer box is complete, strongly-coloured and clean, with the original cellophane window in place (small tear). One small tear to an end flap. Crisp feel to the card.
