Notes
Hard to find in any condition and certainly never in multiples – we are delighted to have this rare South African Dinky model for sale. Unfinished models were exported to South Africa from 1966. They were sent as castings and painted and assembled there, largely as a way of getting around the laws prohibiting export of finished goods to South Africa at this time. All housed in Dinky boxes with some Afrikaans text and of course most importantly the Arthur E.Harris print on the box.
One of the rarest Dinky Jaguar models, this South African issue Dinky comes directly from a family in South Africa. Distinctive ivory finish, silver trim, red interior, suspension on spun wheels., South African rivets, and as-new fine tread tyres.
In virtually mint, original condition:
For comparison only, please take a look at this version on the left when set alongside the English Dinky version in light grey:
The correct Arthur E. Harris Dinky box is complete and brightly-coloured. Few Dinky collections can boast one of these, correctly presented in the Arthur E. Harris South African box! The box with the correct South African print is complete.
Note the old tape residue at one end which kept the box closed at some time. Small area of surface loss nearby.
One of the rarest Dinky models.
