A fine example of this popular Dinky model, issued between 1948-52. This is the first issue from 1948 presented in the earliest buff box, the model has a small unpainted hook and is marked ‘Supertoys’ on the base. An outstandingly vibrant red cab and chassis, fawn tank and silver flash. In complete and original condition with fine tread black radial tyres, 20 mph sign at rear, small unpainted hook, spare wheel, tinplate ladders.

A little speckled marking at the point where the ladders intersect and a few chips besides (i.e. at front wheel arches, one at the roof edge) and a couple of very small marks besides.The silver front bumper is rather rough. No dents to the tinplate tank! Indeed, this model presents very nicely indeed with a lustrous all original paint finish.

Bright baseplate too:

The buff box with a paper label is in outrageously fresh condition especially bearing in mind that these boxes are so often very worn and grubby with faded and torn paper labels! Apart from some rustiness at the staples, this example is hard to fault. Such vibrant colours and crisp substantial card with no tears or sunfading.

No graffiti or splits/rubbing at corners. Just a neatly penned shopkeeper’s price at one end.
Not an easy find in this condition.
