South African Dinky 184 Volvo 122S
Volvo 122S by South Africa Dinky Toys, No. 184. In light SAGE GREEN. Exceptionally rare Dinky model & a First for QDT! Very, very near mint/boxed. From The Hastings Collection. Starting bid £1000. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
Unfinished models were exported to South Africa from 1966. They were sent as castings and painted and assembled there, largely as a way of getting around the laws prohibiting export of finished goods to South Africa at this time. All housed in Dinky boxes with some Afrikaans text and of course most importantly the Arthur E.Harris print on the box.
Finished in original and attractive light sage green with shiny spun wheels, silver trim, shiny black base, South African rivets, and well-shaped fine tread tyres.
In virtually mint, original condition:
The correct Arthur E. Harris Dinky box is complete, clean and brightly-coloured. Very light wear.
A very nice example for a South African Dinky box!
An exceptional Dinky model.
