Dinky Toys 935 Leyland Octopus Flat Truck with Chains
Leyland Octopus Flat Truck with Chains by Dinky Toys, No. 935. Scarce green and pale grey version. Very near mint/boxed with card packing piece. Rare model from The Ian Hewlett Collection. Starting bid £500. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
Typically one of the last models to be added to a Dinky commercial collection, so not an easy find!
Issued between 1964-66.
A carefully handled example with a fine and lustrous paint finish in green and pale grey with red plastic wheels. Riveted back. Straight posts, original chain. As-new original radial tyres.
Looks spectacular!
Few tiny marks to the paint finish. Closest inspection reveals the occasional tiny retouch.
The colourful picture box is complete and vividly-coloured. Note that this example comes with the correct yellow base (rather grubby with rusty staples).
Little rubbing/edge wear, but no splits. The original owner has written ‘Leyland Octopus’ at on side of the lower half of the box and also (faintly) on the lid.
With original card packing piece which tucks behind the cab.
A high profile Dinky commercial truck in close to mint condition.
