Dinky 40B Triumph 1800 Saloon in original Dinky Trade Box, with dividers. 2nd castings. Mid-blue issue with blue wheels. Very near mint - very. very near mint/never boxed individually. From The Cologne Collection. QDT starting bid £400. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
Issued between 1948-49, these are the 2nd type casting Triumph models finished in mid-blue, railed baseplate with small print and the rear axle is held in place by the baseplate.
In all original condition with a pleasing lustrous finish.
Shiny base/axles and the smooth original tyres are supple and run well.
Occasional tiny mark to the paint. Note that one example has slightly darkened paint finish on the top surface. Note that another has side lights detail in silver too (we believe this detail was added at the factory since the silver details were hand-finished). Also this example has a little more silver detailing at the rear bumper (again, factory we believe). Another example has the same additional bumper silvering at the rear.
Very nice and scarce examples!
The bright yellow lift-off lidded Dinky Trade Box presents well, showing light wear only. Nice to see all of the original card dividers still present too:
