Dinky Toys 39F Studebaker State Commander
Studebaker State Commander by Dinky Toys, No.36F. Very dark navy blue. With rare baseplate pressed from Hornby Sheet metal. Near mint/never boxed individually. From The esteemed Spa-Francorchamps Collection.
Notes
This is a rare, just post war-time, issue of the Studebaker State Commander finished in deep navy blue, with ridged black wheels. Treaded tyres. One of just a very few that had this sheet metal baseplate using Hornby Train sheet metal left-overs (1946). Visible when looking down into the car – the light tan colour is visible.
As discussed in The Dinky Toys Collectors’ Journal in Letters to the Editor, April, 2017.
Presents well:
A few marks to the paint finish. Close scrutiny finds some touch-ins.
All original treaded tyres run well.
Still a very nice display piece!
