_Hard to find in any condition and certainly never in multiples – we are delighted to have for sale this South African Dinky model. Unfinished models were exported to South Africa from 1966. They were sent as castings and painted and assembled there, largely as a way of getting around the laws prohibiting export of finished goods to South Africa at this time.
Finished in light turquoise and deep cream with a bright red interior, suspension on shiny spun wheels. South African rivets, and as-new fine tread tyres.
In very close to mint condition:
Couple of minor marks only.
Note the difference in colour between this South African issue pictured in the foreground ( paler turquoise and deeper cream) and the standard Dinky version behind:
Note too the base difference (South African issue has a gloss base) and in particular the distinctive shape of the South African rivets when compared with the standard issue on the right:
