Notes
One of the iconic Dinky Toys!
Certainly, it is one of the most sought-after Dinky commercial models – notoriously difficult to find in any condition. Few collections can boast a Weetabix van and even fewer in this close to mint condition. This scarce Dinky Guy Van was made for just one year – 1952. In deep yellow finish with a first type cab and grooved Supertoy wheels. A classic item from Dinky’s heyday. The distinctive transfers are complete throughout:
Baseplate showing original rivet fixings, untarnished metal and smooth original well-shaped tyres.
Just superb! Upon close scrutiny, one will see the odd little pin prick mark at raised body lines at the sides. There are a few touch-ins at the wheel arches and a couple of stray flicks of yellow paint at one side (you have to be eagle-eyed to spot them!). Tiny area of casting roughness on the cab roof. Little casting flaw to one of the rear door handles.
Rear doors open and close well.
The item comes complete with a very fresh and strongly-coloured powder blue box with an intact paper label.
Note the orange-red colour design is slightly mis-aligned (all original of course).
Only the most minor age wear and pencilled numbering at one lid end.
