Dinky Toys 531 Leyland Comet Lorry
Leyland Comet Lorry by Dinky Toys, No. 531. Very near mint/boxed. Violet blue and orange-yellow version, grooved Supertoy wheels. From The Sherwood Collection.
Notes
Issued between 1949-54 in various colour finishes, this version in bright violet blue and deep orange-yellow with red ridged Supertoy wheels is not an easy find in this condition. An eye-catching, lustre to the original paint finish – this fine Comet truck looks superb on display.
Bright baseplate too:
With none of the usual chipping at the yellow stake back – just a few small marks at wheel arches. Only the most minor roof rub (visible under strong light only).
The sheen throughout shows that this truck has been very carefully handled and stored.
The early deep blue box with a picture label is vividly-coloured and complete. Minor rubbing to the paper label at box lid ends. Some rusting to the staples and a shopkeeper’s pencilled price of just 6/- at one end of the lid.
Issued between 1949-54. A special item to add to your collection.
