Dinky Toys 117 Four Berth Caravan
Four Berth Caravan by Dinky Toys, No. 114. Blue & cream issue with gloss base. Very, very near mint/late 188 box with overstuck 117 Dinky stamp. With packing ring. Unusual issue from The Fenman Collection.
Notes
Issued between 1963-69, this delightful model has a fresh light blue and yellow-cream finish, intact opening light brown plastic door, and detailed deep cream interior with red table top and blue flooring. Gloss baseplate. Fine example in all original condition with shiny spun wheels and a grey plastic jockey wheel. Suspension. As-new fine tread original tyres with suspension.
Couple of tiny marks away from mint.
Bright yellow box is complete and quite an unusual variation. This box was actually intended for a Dinky 188 Caravan model in green. However, this two- tone model was replaced by 117 – this must have been one of the last remaining boxes and a printed label 117 was placed over the original numbering throughout. Crisp, with minor handling wear only. Nice to see that this example comes complete with the original little packing ring which fits over the shiny towing hitch.
