Dinky Toys 171 Austin 1800
Austin 1800 by Dinky Toys, No. 171. Assumed mint (never removed from box), in export box with Mr. Dealer Strip in place. Scarce. From The Wesley Lodge Collection.
Notes
A wonderfully vibrant blue Austin 1800 model (issued 1965-68). Often found in the Dinky Motor Show Gift Set from this era. Also, available in the US at this time and Dinky sent them in these lighter (and of course more fragile) card and cellophane boxes.
The original owner resisted the temptation to remove the model from the pristine card roadway to which it is still firmly attached.
Nice to see this colourful box has vivid fresh tear-free card and comes complete with the Dealer Strip section still in place. Gives the impression of unsold old shop stock.
Very small puncture to the original cellophane – hard to fault otherwise!
Period dollar price label.
A difficult find in this condition.
