Corgi Toys 261 James Bond's Aston Martin
James Bond's Aston Martin D.B.5 by Corgi Toys, No. 261. Very near mint/boxed. RARE, 1st issue version in TOFFEE-GOLD with LIGHT TAN EJECTOR ROOF INTERIOR & BRIGHT RED SEATING. With a never-opened Secret Instruction Packet and 'Model Car Makers to James Bond' Leaflet.
Notes
We are especially delighted to offer one of the most popular Corgi models ever, issued between 1965-69. An exceptional find – this is the rare version in this distinctive bright toffee-gold finish with a light tan injector roof interior. Bare metal bullet shield and silver trim.
This 1st James Bond Aston Martin is in all original condition with none of the reproduction accessories, rife with this issue. Note the indicator light casting and double side vent present on this early issue. The car is fully functioning, complete with both figures. Suspension is present on wire wheels. Original tyres are supple and well-shaped. This Aston Martin DB5 model has such a lustrous intense, deep toffee-gold finish – an especially attractive example, since often the Aston comes in a variety of shades. Note the light tan ejector roof interior too, with a bright red interior. A rare version. In very close to mint condition.
Little mark on a rear wing.
Please see our Blog for more information on Corgi 261 in general.
The plinth on which the model sits is clean and bright with a very crisp feel. Note that it is the 2nd issue version correct with ‘Secret Instructions’ arrow. One very small wheel slot tear.
Reverse:
The Secret Instruction Packet has never been opened. In pristine state (and not a later re-sealed example). Inside there will be the all-important Secret Instructions which detail the retractable machine guns, opening roof and ejector seat, rear bullet screen and telescopic over-riders. The packet will also contain the unapplied 007 badge and the spare villain figure, in case the first one goes astray.
Note the additional colour promotional booklet included i.e. ‘Model Car Makers to James Bond’, present with some issues.
The outer box is the 2nd issue style – correct with the shading detail around the lettering ASTON MARTIN DB5 on the box face and the thick black border around the JAMES BOND’S lettering, too. Strongly-coloured and looking crisp and fresh. Very close to pristine.
A piece of Corgi history and a nostalgic treat which is hard to resist! One of the most difficult James Bond models to find.
