Period Shop Display Stand 1960's Humbrol
Scarce Period Shop Display Stand promoting Humbrol Paints (as used in Corgi Silverstone and Shell BP Sets, as well as Dinky Kits). A fresh to market piece.
Notes
This style of modeller’s Humbrol paint in the style portrayed on the Humbrol Sign was issued between 1960-62 and would have been quite a familiar sight in model shop, and toy shop during the early 1960’s/. You may recall that Humbrol paints were included in the Silverstone Gift Set and Shell BP Set as well as Dinky Kits. We note that in our archive we have a Silverstone Set which includes the Humbrol Colour Chart headed ‘One Hour Humbrol Plastic Enamel’.
This example has survived extremely well with the colourful tin sign atop the steel racking. Mid-grey tartan style with ‘One Hour’ above the HUMBROL lettering places this sign, so from the early 1960’s.
80cms high including the sign, 40 cms. wide, 30cms. deep.
Minor wear to the unfaded tinplate sign and racking. Little tarnished areas to a few steel posts.
