The 25 Year Collection in California does include some very rare individual pieces and none more so than this delightful (assumed) mint/boxed Gift Set from Japan, which is complete with all 12 individually boxed ‘Old Timers’ models.
Each one is still firmly with a wire fixing which secures it to tits black plastic plinth with gold product label and protected by its intact clear perspex lid.
Lift the colourful lid and inside the 12 models ( each one different) are neatly arrayed and the original card packing pieces between the rows are still present. Diecast with plastic wheels.
Each perspex box measures 5.5 cms approx. so a diminutive set. The cars are charming, brightly-coloured and do include detail.
The bright and intact card box shows very minor storage grubbiness and the staples are rusty now.
A quirky and fascinating little piece of history from Japan, issued 1959-060.
