Corgi Toys 497 Man From UNCLE
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Thrushbuster by Corgi Toys, No. 497. Very near mint/boxed. Dark blue issue with Waverley ring. Monochrome plinth and plastic spotlights. Wrap-around packing card packing piece and BOTH card rings. All original! From The Reference Collection.
Notes
Issued between 1966-69, this Oldsmobile car has a gleaming, deep purple-blue finish, complete bonnet logo (none of the usual age transparency), bright chrome parts, detailed cast wheels. Fine original tyres. If you press the roof periscope the figure moves from side to side to shoot the enemy! This is the version with plastic chromed spotlights (to dazzle the enemy!). A very attractive item on display:
Occasional tiny mark to the paint finish.
So often lost or replaced with a copy, this Thrushbuster comes with its original Waverley ring. Changing image on the ring face of Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin.
The clean and fresh-looking monochrome card plinth is complete and feels quite crisp. Vivid colours and tiny wear to one wheel slot. Minor tear to the slot for the Waverley Ring.
Lots of info about the U.N.C.L.E organisation on box reverse as well as pictures and signatures of the T.V. series protagonists.
The outer box is bright and complete, showing a little wear, including minor grubbiness. All end flaps are present and tear free. Includes the original card wrap-around packing piece and both card rings too. Corgi Club Membership Form is included.
