Notes
Such a nostalgic piece!
This large scale pressed steel Routemaster Bus was meant to be played with! One can only imagine the delight that a child back in the late 50’s-early 60’s felt when he (or she) rode about on it or pulled the (original) cord which sounds the bell. All aboard!
Approx 58cms long.
This survivor (one has to call it thus) has bright period advertisements and labels on both sides (a little wear and the occasional nick for the most part, although more rubbing and wear to some). Blue interior and a white steering wheel. Metal wheel and well-shaped tyres. Putney BDG Station Destination Board. A kindly eye may note the patina that has developed over time mostly on the roof but this is still a bold display piece that is a cheering sight!
Sound condition with bright colours and a detailed interior. Notable that the bell clapper is present and intact and works well.
The large plain card box has clear print ‘DOUBLE
DECK BUS’. Box lacks an end now.
