Corgi Toys FAO Schwarz Set

Very rare to come to the market place, this is one of a very small range of Gift Sets sold through the FAO Schwarz toy shops in the U.S. This particular example is a 3-part set which focusses on the Corgi Toys Chipperfield range of models.

1) Corgi 503 Circus Giraffe Transporter with Giraffes. Shaped spun wheel issue. Very near mint. With packing. Intensely crisp card box. Tiny wear.

2) Corgi 1130 Circus Horse Transporter with Horses. Shaped spun wheels. Grey horses. Complete wing mirrors. Very near mint with packing sleeve. Bright card outer box has a couple of seam tears. Card plinth lacks a very small portion of one pull tab.

3) Corgi Gift Set 19 Chipperfields Land-Rover with Elephant and Cage on Trailer. Near mint plus (probably as-made paint blemish on a front wing). Vibrant glossy colours, complete labels and a deeply-coloured plastic canopy. Red and blue trailer has some paint loss to one top edge and the usual little tow ring marks. Light brown Elephant Cage is a more difficult find with a black hook. Box is clean and has a crisp feel. Intensely-coloured card. Couple of small handling tears. Card plinth has one tiny wheel slot tear.

The most important component of this set is, of course, this striking FAO Schwarz box.

Strongly-coloured in deep turquoise with a yellow lower half. Bright strip label at one short end of the lid. CiRCUS SET in red print on a white label. Couple of small pieces of the label missing now. A few lightened areas at the sides/ light stains.
The lid has vibrant colours and large ‘Circus Set’ in child’s writing on the lid. Star attached.
Note the crucial, period SCHWARZ N.Y. label on one lid end too. Lower half of the box has a corner seam repair and some storage grubbiness/wear.
Included is the original small blue card ‘filler’ piece (see lead image).
