Triang Minic M708
Tri-ang Minic M708 Ship 'RMS Franconia'. Very near mint, with original bagged accessories. Rare item from The Island Collection and a First for QDT!
Notes
From the set of Waterline issues from this very successful toy manufacturer, and this is surely one of the rarest. In 1:1200 scale, this HMS Franconia was issued during 1962 and is an extremely difficult find – and in this condition, a must-have piece for your collection.
Just one of 480 made, measuring 155mm. Finished in pale green with red and black funnel, brown details and a swimming pool!
The underside of the ship reveals the wording ‘Pats Pen’ (patent pending) and the familiar Minic logo along with other pertinent information. The original shopkeepers price label of 5/6 remains discreetly placed on the base at one side too!
All original, this cast model ocean liner is completely unused, and if further proof were needed, please note that this model ship comes with its delicate plastic accessory pieces still in the original clear plastic bag (with printed details on how to assemble and use the delicate accessories). Dated 1960. Please note that we have ‘darkened’ the image of the accessory packet in order that some of the writing which is white print on clear plastic may be viewed):
The yellow card box with blue print continues the theme. Crisp and clean. Note the correct period product stamp ‘M708 FRANCONIA’ on an end flap. Small area of surface loss on an end flap. Light wear.
A wonderful find from this collector and we wonder whether we will ever be fortunate enough to see another.
