Notes
A sensational and sought-after Gift Set from Corgi. This is the earliest issue (and hardest to find) presented in the plain card box (1963-66).
It comprises:
1) 150s Vanwall Racing Car, with sheet of wheel trims on backing. Little (maybe as-made) nick to the racing number. Light rubs to wheels. Very near mint in a fresh, crisp box.
2) 151A Lotus Mark IX Le Mans, very near mint. Crisp box.
3) 152s BRM Racing Car, with Corgi printed note and sheet of wheel trims on backing. Very, very near mint in crisp box.
4) 215s Thunderbird Open Sports, very near mint in bright, crisp and fresh box.
5) 304s Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Hardtop, very near mint. Crisp, clean and bright box has a handling tear.
6) 309 Aston Martin DB4 Competition. Very near mint with a small casting blemish on the roof. Mere dot besides. Crisp, bright box.
7) 417s Land Rover ‘Breakdown Service’ is very, very near mint with packing piece in a super-crisp, bright box.
Set also comes with the following kits and figure sets:
a)1501 Racing Drivers & Pit Mechanics
b)1502 Spectators
c)1503 Race Track Officials
d) 602 AA & RAC Telephone Boxes
e) 2 × 603 Silverstone Pits
f) 604 Silverstone Press Box
g) Silverstone Time-Keeper’s Box
The kits are all unmade, and in crisp lovely boxes. Tiny wear includes a couple of light creases.
Includes the mat, glue, paints and original paint brush!
Little tear to the delicate white plastic insert which houses the paints.
The large outer box is complete, showing minimal storage grubbiness and wear.
So difficult to find this good – what a set! Surely one of the best surviving examples. We have not seen better.
