Notes
Hard to find in any condition and certainly never in multiples! Unfinished models were exported to South Africa from 1966. They were sent as castings and painted and assembled there, largely as a way of getting around the laws prohibiting export of finished goods to South Africa at this time. All housed in Dinky boxes with some Afrikaans text and of course most importantly the Arthur E.Harris print on the box.
Finished in vivid red with no lettering at the sides, metal steering wheel, plastic figure, yellow metal rear wheels, yellow plastic front wheels. Shiny base, South African rivets, and as-new rear tyres, couple of light surface splits to the front tyres.
In very close to mint, original condition with a couple of small factory assembly marks near one of the chimney stacks:
The correct Arthur E. Harris Dinky box is complete, clean and brightly-coloured. One of the best South African Dinky boxes we have seen. Scarcely any wear at all – and one of the large end flaps feels as if it has never been opened – and we are not about to change that! Little pen scribble on the top surface.
One of the rarest Dinky models.
