Notes
Originally, this Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was awarded as a prize in a painting competition organised by The Daily Express Newspaper back in the day (1968) and comes with the original letter and buff card over-sleeve. What a find!
This is the ‘most fantasmagorical’ Corgi toy, in very near mint condition! Gleaming bright, with the four original figures seated inside. All jewels are complete, as are the delicate carriage lamps. Complete front and rear number plates. The car’s functions: the wings will flip out when the handbrake is depressed. Gold windscreen version with gold band immediately in front too (more often with a silver band).
One little chip at a front mudguard tip.
Complete with a delicate white plastic inner (one tiny tear) and a complete blue card cloud scene (often missing). Tiny wear.
The large cellophane fronted “window” box is strongly-coloured, clean and complete. A little ‘in the print’ speckling and a very minor ruffle at an end flap hinge. The original cellophane window is notably intact.Of course, since this model was originally sent ( and stored) in the plain brown card sleeve, there is the expected crease at the header card reverse where it meets the main body of the box. Couple of light stains on the box underside. Light wear besides.
Original letter from The Daily Express Newspaper has the expected light creases and very minor wear. Card over-sleeve is complete, clean and fresh. Tear-free!
A firm Corgi favourite – one of the most decorative and much-loved Corgi models.
