Dinky 514
Dinky 514 Guy Van "SLUMBERLAND". Near mint plus/boxed. RARE VERSION WITH SUPERTOY WHEELS & BRONZE spare wheel carrier. From The QDT Vault.
Notes
Issued between 1950-52, this desirable Dinky advertising van has a vivid, all original red paint finish with a ‘Slumberland’ transfer above the cab roof (very small rub), and complete delicate transfers on one side, tiny wear to the other. More often found with ridged wheels, this example has grooved Supertoy wheels, a scarce variation. Pleasing original lustre.
Note the bronze-coloured spare wheel carrier. Well-shaped original tyres.
Rear doors open and close nicely, too. Viewed from above, one can see the small factory flaw to the casting of one of the rear doors (as-made).
There are a few of the usual little marks at the rear door handles and the occasional very small mark besides.
The early powder blue box is brightly-coloured with no seam tears. Note the clean paper label has some edge nibbles. Very light wear.
A difficult find – this is a rare variation with a most unusual spare wheel carrier – and nobly in all original condition!
