Corgi 497
Corgi 497 The Man From UNCLE's Thrushbuster. Rare cream export version. Near mint/boxed. With original Waverley ring, 2 card packing rings and card wrap-around packing piece. From the personal collection of a professional TV & Film Set Designer.
Notes
This is a most unusual item from Corgi in the scarce cream finish and made for just for one year only (1966). Usual colour finish is metallic blue.
This particular example is in close to mint condition with a fine cream finish with a notably complete and bright bonnet logo . Please note that this is an authentic example, i.e. correct that it does not have a bonnet cast square immediately surrounding the bonnet label (only the metallic blue version has this casting detail).
Hard to find a mark to the paint finish. Closely scrutinised, you will see 2 small (later) touch-ins (one at a front wing tip and another at a rear wing tip). Minor dulling/mottling to the finish of the chrome spotlights.
This example comes complete with the original Waverley ring, the colourful card ring, the card packing ring as well as the wrap around card packing piece. Corgi Club Membership Form is included too.
The inner card stand is clean, bright and complete. A little minor tearing at two wheel slots as you might expect. This version is more usually found with a monochrome base on which the model stands – this example has the deep orange rectangular section instead.
Lots of information on the UNITED NETWORK COMMAND FOR LAW AND ENFORCEMENT (U.N.C.L.E.) on box plinth reverse.
The outer box is complete, clean and bright. Couple of punctures at an internal end flap have pressed back into place. Minor age/handling wear. Period U.S. price label at an end flap.
A rare t.v. inspired Corgi item.
