Notes
Acknowledged in ‘The Great Book Of Dinky Toys’, this collector in the U.S. brings his 37 year collection to QDT. Included are some very rare items and a wealth of period literature and catalogues.
A rare Pre-War issue and a particularly difficult find in this pale grey and deep grey with smooth charcoal grey wheels. White tyres are well-shaped. Intact radiator and headlight assembly. Complete radiator emblem. Correct open chassis and thin axles.
A little of the expected dulling to the radiator and headlight assembly and a sprinkling of small marks to the paint finish, mostly at roof side edges. Note the fatigue expansion has bowed the chassis somewhat. A few minor fatigue marks may be seen. Model would appear stable now and in our experience, the fatigue caused by the instability of alloys does not deteriorate further generally.Rear wheels do not rotate now (due to the fatigue expansion).
At the time, this model would have been supplied to the shops in trade boxes of six.
