Corgi 261
Corgi 261 James Bond's Aston Martin D.B.5. Very near mint /boxed. 2nd issue with shaded box detail and arrow on plinth base. Version WITHOUT INDICATOR LIGHT CASTING. With full Secret Instruction Packet. From The Berlin Collection.
Notes
One of the most popular Corgi models ever, issued between 1965-69.
This James Bond Aston Martin is in all original condition with none of the reproduction accessories, rife with this issue.
The car is fully functioning, complete with both figures. It has a lustrous gold finish and intact suspension on all four wheels.
Note this casting does not have the indicator light detail, which was not present on later issues. For more details on Corgi 261 generally, please do refer to our Blog article.
Original tyres are well-shaped.
Shows minimal handlign and wear – note the gold finish still present on the bullet shield – a good indicator that this model has barely been handled or used.
Small fine surface mark on the roof (happily free of the central chip that can so easily occur when the ejector function is used)and a few tiny marks to the paint finish besides.
The plinth (with SECRET INSTRUCTION arrow) on which the model sits is complete with both pull-out end tabs. Vivid colours on crisp card. Small tear to one wheel slot.
The Instruction Packet (a little creased) has been opened and inside there are the important Secret Instructions which detail the retractable machine guns, opening roof and ejector seat, rear bullet screen and telescopic over-riders.
All have been tested and work perfectly! The packet also contains the unapplied 007 badge, and the spare villain.
The 2nd issue outer box is clean, brightly-coloured and complete, with a silky feel to the card. Note that since it is 2nd issue there is shading detail around the lettering ASTON MARTIN DB5 on the box face and a black border around the JAMES BOND’S lettering.
Small stain on a non-picture side and light wear.
