Corgi Gift Set 3

A most desirable Corgi set – and so difficult to find in this condition! Carefully handled and stored and looking as if the contents have rarely been taken out of the crisp, clean and bright box.
This version was only available for a short time before the header card version with the later whizzwheel style was introduced. We believe this particular version was only made for the export U.S. market.
Later, the standard Whizzwheels version would have finely-treaded tyres.
The set comprises:

1) Batmobile in gleaming gloss black finish with both original figures of Batman and Robin. Tow hook version. A particularly difficult find with this style of black tyres, silver wheel detail. The same style as specifically made for the red Whizzwheel version (but in black of course), so smooth outer rim.
Gleaming chrome, bright gold parts. Correct that this version has less pointed rear fins and very bright gold parts. Suspension is fine on all four well-shaped original tyres. Little part-thickness chip head-on.

2) Batboat sits atop the gold trailer with cast wheels. More desirable ‘tin fin’ version (later issues were plastic). Mint condition with remains of old elastic band in situ.

Complete with a bright Secret Instruction Packet (opened) which contains sprue of missiles (3 detached), badge and note the rare Gift Set 3 Specific Instruction Leaflet.

Both items sit in a clean and fresh polystyrene inner. Small piece on the reverse missing.

The rare 1973 issue box is correct without header card.

Colourful and crisp with unfaded colours. Smooth, original unpunctured cellophane. Minor tear low down at one end flap edge and light corner ruffling.
