C261
Corgi 261 James Bond's Aston Martin D.B.5. Near mint plus/boxed. 2nd issue with shaded box detail. With full Secret Instruction Packet & additional 'Model Car Makers to James Bond' Leaflet. From The West London Collection.
Notes
One of the most popular Corgi models ever, issued between 1965-69.
This James Bond Aston Martin is in all original condition with none of the reproduction accessories, rife with this issue.
The car is fully functioning, complete with both figures. It has a lustrous bright gold finish – a most attractive example:
A few negligible dots to the paint finish if you want to fault it and a small piece of debris on the rear screen ( attached itself to the inside – may be possible to remove).
Suspension is fine on all four wheels. Original tyres are well-shaped (although one has a small split but this does not affect function).
The plinth on which the model sits is complete and bright, with both pull-out end tabs. Vivid colours on crisp, rarely handled card. Little tear at one wheel slot.
The Instruction Packet has been opened and inside are the all-important Secret Instructions which detail the retractable machine guns, opening roof and ejector seat, rear bullet screen and telescopic over-riders.
All have been tested and work perfectly! The packet also contains the unapplied 007 badge, and the spare villain. Also present is the ‘Model Car Makers To James Bond’ Leaflet, included with some issues.
The 2nd issue outer box has strong colours Note that since it is 2nd issue there is shading detail around the lettering ASTON MARTIN DB5 on the box face and a black border around the JAMES BOND’S lettering. Small area of surface loss at an end flap where a price label has been removed. Few stain spots and light wear.
