Notes
An exciting and authentic model, this Chrysler Imperial Bermuda Taxi, featured in the 1969 Corgi Catalogue, never went into production.
This precious prototype would appear to be all that remains. The owner says:
“I bought this model around 25 years ago – it was one of a batch that came from an ex-Corgi employee. I have never seen another “proper” C507, you can tell it’s a pre-pro by the special windscreen moulding (it’s not a bit glued on) and the canopy, entirely different from the Ford T’Bird one … the screw on the base was obviously fitted before riveting".
Finished in a distinctive shade of Kingfisher blue, this prototype model has a pale blue detailed interior, and driver figure. Detailed cast wheels.
Windscreen unique to this prototype has a moulded section which takes the unique clip fitting of the red plastic canopy.
(Note that the canopy for the production Corgi 430 Ford Thunderbird Bermuda Taxi model has two small plastic posts at the front and a larger post at the rear which fixes it in place).
Note the Corgi TAXI labels on both opening doors and BERMUDA label on the bonnet. All are complete.
The paint finish on this prototype model is graded very near mint.
Looking at the base of this prototype, you will see that it has two factory rivets, a factory screw, and at the rear the car is secured with a body post visible on the rear of the base. (The production 246 Chrysler Imperial model has four rivets).
