N239
Nicky/Dinky Toys 239 Vanwall Racing Car. Metallic red version. Very near mint/boxed. Scarce. From The Eric Slager Collection.
Notes
Sought after models that are so difficult to find in good condition! Dinky dies were sold to the Indian Firm S. Kumar & Co. trading as Atamco. (1968-70). Often known as Indian-Dinky toys, the finish was poor in comparison.
A really very close to mint example finished in a rich metallic red with original silver details, blue plastic driver, steering wheel. Original sliver details. Black plastic one-piece tyres/wheels.
Racing number 35 ( couple of tiny dots).
The colourful correct box (ATAMCO P LTD. Calcutta) is colourful, clean and crisp – and largely free of the usual ‘white edges’ or heavy tears that plague these comparatively flimsy boxes. Few creases and a very small tear. Light age/handling wear.
