C404M
Corgi 404M Bedford 'Dormobile' Personnel Carrier. Very near mint/boxed. Dusky turquoise issue with an UNPAINTED BASE & PUSH-FIT FRONT AXLE. Scarce. From a small cache of period unsold shop stock.
Notes
Issued between 1956-60, this sought-after early mechanical Corgi commercial model is in original condition with a working flywheel motor. Presents well with an attractive original lustre in dusky turquoise.
Most unusual with this unpainted base. Note the push-fit front axle fitting too. More usually found with cast bosses for the axle to slide through. Note the lettering ‘BRITISH MADE’ either side of "CORGI TOYS’ and PATENT PENDING toward the rear.
Flat spun wheels and well-shaped, as-new original tyres. One tiny mark at a front bumper if you want to fault it and a small area of light under spray.
The powder blue picture box is complete and strongly-coloured, with a crisp feel. A little rubbing at some edges. No tears or graffiti. Promotional colour booklet is included.
An interesting variation.
