Corgi Gift Set 48 Corgi Car Transporter (Ford) with 6 Cars. Near mint - very near mint/boxed, with original sealed bag of cones. Nice outer box! Scarce set issued in 1967. From a most knowledgeable and enthusiastic collector in South London.
Notes
Issued by Corgi during 1967, this is a most sought-after, 1st issue Gift Set, complete with the ’autograph? Mini and the metallic bronze Hillman Imp.
In detail, this set comprises:
1) Corgi 1138 Ford Articulated Car Transporter in original scarlet red and blue with a very pale green-blue upper ramp, four intact red plastic chocks, cast wheels. The distinctive ?Corgi Cars? sign is gleaming bright on both sides (tiny marking on one side), both paper chevron labels (few light creases). Few little contact marks at the rear ramp (metal coming into contact with metal), and the occasional small mark besides. Note that the exhaust pipe is shorter than usual (so we expect a small portion has snapped off at some time). Overall, near mint.
2) Corgi 252 Rover 2000 in lustrous metallic maroon with a cream interior. Trans-O-Lite issue with shaped spun wheels. Very near mint.
3) Corgi 251 Hillman Imp in bright metallic gold with a white stripe. Scarce colour issue. No rear suspension (common fault). Little retouch at a wheel arch. Few minor marks besides. Near mint.
4) Corgi 440 Ford Cortina Estate. In very near mint condition. Metallic blue version with brown and cream side panels, shaped spun wheels with suspension. Jewelled headlights.
5) Corgi 249 Morris Mini Cooper De-Luxe in black with a red roof and complete ?wickerwork? side and rear panels. Suspension on shaped spun wheels, jewelled headlights. Very near mint.
6) Corgi 226 Morris Mini Minor in lavender blue with suspension on shaped spun wheels. Mark on bonnet. Graded near mint plus.
7) Corgi 321 Mini Cooper ‘S’ Monte Carlo 1966 in red and white with suspension on shaped spun wheels. Roof signatures of ?Timo Makkinen? and ?Paul Easter’ (minor rubbing), complete racing number ?2? on one door (nick to the other), minor tarnishing to the sump guard, jewelled lights. Virtually complete front and rear transfers. Near mint.
All contents are housed in a complete and bright polystyrene inner. Minor marking in places caused by the models. Bright ‘Corgi Toys’ label.
This set comes with the original sealed bag of cones. No leaflet.
The colourfully illustrated outer box is complete with intact original cellophane window . Crisp, fresh colours on the largely undamaged card (couple of very small end flap tears).
