C455
Corgi/Mettoy Karrier Bantam 2-Ton 'CWS SOFT DRINKS'. Near mint/promotional box with leaflet. Another rare item from The Monty Calme Collection.
Notes
A very early Corgi/Mettoy model released as a promotional item for the CWS company. This scarce early model is finished in bright red with a black platform and original silver detailing at the lights, bonnet detail and steps at the sides of the cab.
This example presents well with a glossy, unfaded bright red finish and the all-important slogan for CWS Soft Drinks notably complete. Small casting mark at the rear. Hard to find a mark to the paint finish but closest scrutiny reveals a few small subtle touch-ins. Not easy to see without magnification.
The correct box is complete, with promotional printing and the remains of original old sellotape at the ends. Note that one of the small end flaps is detached now. Couple of small tears besides.
Delightful little colour leaflet is still present too which is clean and bright, with just a couple of very small edge tears :
A piece of early Corgi/Mettoy history since in 1957, with minor alterations, this model was launched as a Corgi model (numbered 455) in blue with a rear window, and of course no lettering at the rear.
What a find!
