Corgi Gift Set 48 Corgi Car Transporter (Ford) with 6 Cars. Excellent plus - very near mint/boxed with INSTRUCTION LEAFLET & cones. Scarce set issued in 1967 from The New European Collection.
Notes
Issued by Corgi during 1967, this is a most sought-after, 1st issue Gift Set, complete with the ’autograph? Mini and the metallic bronze Hillman Imp. Contents all look unused.
In detail, this set comprises:
1) Corgi 1138 Ford Articulated Car Transporter in original scarlet red (slight sunfading), and blue with a very pale green-blue upper ramp, four intact red plastic chocks, cast wheels. The distinctive ?Corgi Cars? sign is gleaming bright on both sides (no scratches!), both paper labels are fresh and clean at the rear. Few little contact marks at the rear ramp (metal coming into contact with metal), and the occasional small mark besides. Overall, near mint.
2) Corgi 252 Rover 2000 in lustrous metallic maroon with a cream interior. Trans-O-Lite issue with shaped spun wheels. Near mint with a few little chips at the front bumper area , mark at a rear door and a few minor marks besides. Note the stray dab of factory orange paint on one rear wing.
3) Corgi 251 Hillman Imp in bright metallic gold with a white stripe. In close to mint condition (chip at bonnet edge) and notably, the suspension is present on all four spun wheels. Scarce colour issue.
4) Corgi 440 Ford Cortina Estate. In virtually mint condition. Metallic blue version with brown and cream side panels, shaped spun wheels with suspension. Jewelled headlights. Some chrome ribbing and a few marks to the paint finish.
5) Corgi 249 Morris Mini Cooper De-Luxe in black with a red roof and complete ?wickerwork? side and rear panels. Suspension on shaped spun wheels, jewelled headlights. Very near mint.
6) Corgi 226 Morris Mini Minor in light, bright blue with suspension on flat spun wheels. Graded very near mint.
7) Corgi 321 Mini Cooper ‘S’ Monte Carlo 1966 in red and white with suspension on shaped spun wheels. Roof signatures of ?Timo Makkinen? and ?Paul Easter’, complete racing number ?2? on both doors (one tiny dot to one), bright sump guard, jewelled lights. Complete front and rear transfers. Near mint plus.
All contents are housed in a complete and bright polystyrene inner. Minor marking in places caused by the models. Bright ‘Corgi Toys’ label (little edge crease).
This set comes with the Instruction Leaflet for the Corgi Car Transporter and a sealed bag of cones.
The colourfully illustrated outer box is complete with original cellophane window (small tear). Note the age wear/ edge rubbing, wear and tear.
