Notes
The Monty Calme landmark Corgi Collection, covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
The production version of Corgi 491 Ford Consul Super Estate Car would be finished in a range of colours, all with the brown and cream side panels, but with a single colour body finish of red, graphite grey or blue. This colour trial in red a has a black lower half and base. Corgi opted for the ‘simpler’ version of one main body colour for the production model, so this is a unique find.
Purchased by this collector at Bonham?s Auction House in December 2009, and part of the property of an ex-Corgi employee.
Riveted base.
Shaped spun wheels, Fine original tyres.
Barely a mark to the paint finish. Upon closest scrutiny, you will find a couple of minor marks at headlight rims and a couple of tiny marks at the rear where there is a small rough cast area.
Comes with a standard Corgi 491 picture box (minor wear).
