Notes
Very rare to come to the market place, this is one of a very small range of Gift Sets sold through the FAO Schwarz toy shops in the U.S. This particular example was made for Christmas 1967, we believe, and comprises:
1) Corgi 154 Ferrari Formula 1 Grand Prix Racing Car. Near mint, although a chip on the nose and the windscreen is a little damaged.
Super-fresh looking box has nevertheless suffered a tear in storage.
2) Corgi 314 Ferrari ‘Berlinetta’ 250 Le Mans. Near mint plus with a few small marks only. Very crisp and vibrant box has minor wear.
3) Corgi 318 Lotus Elan S2. Near mint plus with two rubs on the bonnet. Complete rear transfer. Very fresh and bright box comes with a sheet of Racing Numbers.
4) Corgi 324 Marcos 1800 GT with Volvo Engine. Very near mint with a couple of mere dots to the finish. Complete green bonnet stripes. Complete strip of racing numbers. Suspension. Shop-fresh box.
5) Corgi 330 Porsche Carrera 6. Near mint plus with a few little marks at front and rear points. Lovely fresh box.
The most important component of this set is, of course, this striking FAO Schwarz box!
Strongly-coloured in deep turquoise and orange-yellow, this lift-off lid box has a complete clean and bright strip label at one long side of the lid. Very minor wear only, including a few light grubby marks. Pencilled lettering ‘build’ on the top surface.
No tears, splits or repairs.
The rarest of the rare!
