Notes
The Monty Calme landmark Corgi Collection, covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
Monty says: “Normally only the camper van with windows is found in this two tone colour. You never find just the van in these colours! A ver rare edition and possibly unique”.
The Vw Delivery Van was issued in red and white between 1962-64, and just one other colour version is known, namely the promotional ‘Vroom & Dreesmann’ model (deep grey). Other colours were considered at the time, including this two tone green version – it looks so familiar in these colours and then one remembers the reason why! These colours were finally decided upon for the Corgi 434 VW Kombi issued in 1962.
So this colour trial version was never produced :
Bright red interior and shaped spun wheels. Rivetted base.
Few minor marks only. One of a kind!
