An exceptional collection of prototypes were purchased by ?The New European? Collector, largely originating from two well-documented sources i.e. the auction of the property of Marcel Van Cleemput at Sotheby?s Auction House in 1999 and the Losch Auction House in Germany during 2000.
Purchased at auction over 11 years ago, this is an exciting pre-production Corgi item; an unique sample piece of the Hardy Boys Rolls Royce. It is fundamentally the same casting and size as the production model but, as is typical of pre-production colour trials/prototypes, it is hand-painted. There are several obvious colour differences between this and the model that went into production i.e. the entire colour finish is completely different, as well as the plinth upon which the figures stand (red not green). The ladder at the rear of the model is yellow (not black). Note that the plinth on which the models stand has ‘CORGI TOYS" and ’HARDY BOYS’ embossed on the underside.
Some paint loss on the black roof detail.
