C251
Original Corgi Prototype of Corgi Hillman Imp. Purchased at Losch Auction House, Germany 2000. Unique item from 'The New European' Collection.
Notes
An exceptional collection of prototypes were purchased by ?The New European? Collector, largely originating from two well-documented sources i.e. the auction of the property of Marcel Van Cleemput at Sotheby?s Auction House in 1999 and the Losch Auction House in Germany during 2000.
An exciting and unique item from this collector! This prototype of the Hillman Imp model is finished in light blue. We estimate this prototype was made during 1963, with shaped spun wheels, and aerial detail, hand-painted number plates and a deep blue interior.
Sadly, this particular version never went into production, although the colour of the model itself is very similar to the ’Jensen’s’ model of this time.
Opening clear hatch. Suspension not present on one rear wheel, although the car still ‘sits’ well. Screwed base (typical of prototypes of this era), part of the property of Marcel Van Cleemput, chief designer for Corgi, and sold at Losch Auction House in Germany, March 2000, lot number 2220.
Approx. 8cms. long.
