C497
Corgi 497 The Man From UNCLE's Thrushbuster. Rare cream export version. Near mint plus/boxed (wear). With original Waverley ring, 2 card packing rings and card wrap-around packing piece. From a beautiful, single-owner collection, some 25 years in the making.
Notes
This is a most unusual item from Corgi in the scarce cream finish and made for just for one year only (1966). Usual colour finish is metallic blue.
This particular example is in close to mint condition with a fine cream finish with a notably complete and bright bonnet logo (minor age mottling). Please note that this is an authentic example, i.e. correct that it does not have a bonnet cast square immediately surrounding the bonnet label (only the metallic blue version has this casting detail).
Occasional little mark to the paint finish. Closely scrutinised, you will see a small (later) touch-in at the driver’s side front wing edge.
This example comes complete with the original Waverley ring, the colourful card ring, the card packing ring as well as the wrap around card packing piece. Corgi Club Membership Form is included too.
The inner card stand is clean, bright and complete. A little minor tearing at the wheel slots as you might expect. Note too that this is the correct plinth for this version with a monochrome base on which the model stands.
Lots of information on the UNITED NETWORK COMMAND FOR LAW AND ENFORCEMENT (U.N.C.L.E.) on box plinth reverse:
The outer box is complete if a little sunfaded in places, and note that both large end flaps have been re-attached now. A little wear besides.
A rare t.v. inspired Corgi item.
